BROTHERLY LOVE:
"The physician is concerned [unlike the naturalist]...with a single organism, the human subject, striving to preserve its identity in adverse circumstances." --Ivy McKenzie
I really like this quote, because it highlights the fact that doctors are humanists, and MONEY should NOT be their sole intent. So, before anyone wants to become a physician, one should check his motives. This sounds cliche, but many people with begin with good intentions and have a dream to go to med school..............and later, they lose sight of their goals and become driven by more shallow measures of success (money).
I too am guilty of this, which is why my medical missions to Mexico have kept me in check, and have developed more humanistic tendencies within me. My prayer is that God will constantly remind me of what I need to accomplish, who I will be helping, and ultimately who I will be glorifying (God), once I become a doctor.......if that is God's will.
"Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." Romans 12:9-12 | | |
